PUMA - Printer Usage Monitoring Application

The Printer Usage Monitoring Application is an open and extensible printer usage monitoring application designed for the Microsoft Windows NT, 2000 and 2003 server range

There are three components to the Printer Usage Monitoring Application:

• The PUMA management console controls which printers and servers get monitored and is used to manage the printer usage database
• The PUMA service that resides on each print service and performs the actual monitoring
• The PUMA viewer which allows you to view, save or print reports on the printers usage.

Monitoring the printers

The printers are monitored by a background service and every printer event is logged to the printer usage database.

Standard reports

There are a number of standard reports which can be run against the printer usage database. Each of these reports can be further restricted by the printer on which the job was printed, the document name, the date and time range it was printed or by the user who sent the job to be printed
